FUNDAMENTALISME ISLAM KONTEMPORER
Abstract
Islam secara esensial menyeru pada semua umat manusia menuju cita-cita bersama, yaitu kesatuan kemanusiaan, tanpa membedakan ras, warna kulit, etnik, kebudayaan dan agama. Anehnya dalam realitas sosial, kekerasan dilakukan oleh orang- orang yang mengaku beragama. Ambivalen antara perdamaian di satu pihak yang memang diajarkan agama-agama, dan kekerasan di pihak lain, yang juga diusung berbagai kelompok masyarakat atas nama agama. Akhir-akhir ini kebanggaan toleransi di Indonesia telah luluh lantah oleh sejumlah kekerasan, yang dikui atau tidak, sangat kental beraroma agama. Tulisan ini, mencoba mengungkap fenomena yang dilakukan oleh sejumlah kelompok Islam garis keras atau disebut “Fundamentalisme Islam Kontemporer” untuk mengkaji beberapa karakter dasar atau ciri khas dari faham tersebut.
