Analysis Of Combustion Rate In Sagu Charcoal Brickets

Abstrak

 

This research aims to analyze the burning rate of sago frond charcoal briquettes. Testing the burning rate of sago frond charcoal briquettes at each composition ratio of 90:10%, 80:20%, and 70:30%. Briquette making is carried out at a constant pressure of 70 kgf/cm2. Briquette combustion tests were carried out using a cylindrical combustion furnace designed for natural air flow. Each composition was tested with three briquettes. During combustion, the decrease in mass and increase in combustion chamber temperature were observed at every 4 minute interval using a digital scale and type K thermocouple. The results showed that the composition with a ratio of 90% sago frond charcoal and 10% starch adhesive showed the highest increase in combustion temperature. These results indicate that a lower proportion of starch adhesive in briquettes can increase combustion efficiency
